Smoking

There are many reasons that people start smoking and just as many to keep doing it. The most common expressed are, it relaxes me, its a reward and its a habit. Like any other addiction smoking numbs certain emotions that are perceived as painful. NLP, EFT, PSYCH-K® & Hypnotherapy are effective in neutralising the emotional pull to light up a cigarette and can be taught as self help to manage and let go of cravings.

Unfortunately smoking follows the same patterns as other addictions. The cravings kick in when the painful emotion starts and the urge to smoke becomes bigger. The smoker lights up and it seems to quell those feelings for a moment, but afterwards there may be negative feelings and guilt about being a smoker which can in turn trigger the need to light up again.

There may also be underlying reasons to smoke. For instance, the whole family or peers smoke and therefore it is a way of fitting in. The habit may have started at a particularly stressful time.

Looking at the pattern and reasons for smoking with the use of NLP, EFT & Hypnotherapy can neutralise the need and the cravings. When you feel good about yourself addictions lose their power.

Seeing Being Smoke Free as a Benefit

It is not easy to think about stopping anything that we perceive gives us some form of pleasure.  Even if it's purpose is only to avoid painful feelings.  There is so much coverage in the media and advice from health experts about 'giving up smoking'  and strong messages 'smoking kills'.  In reality these messages just cause people who smoke to feel anxious and consequently smoke more.

What if you could look at it from a different angle.  What would you like to do that hasn't proved possible either financially or physically because of smoking?

Perhaps you have been out of breath and not able to play the sport you really like.  Maybe you would like that dream holiday, but haven't found it easy to start saving.  What would you gain if you were free of smoking?
