Discover the freedom to build beliefs to support your goals and dreams

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)

Neuro Linguistic Programming could be described as the art and science of using your mind to achieve your desired outcomes.

We are all capable of achieving success, so what do successful people have that those who don’t achieve do not? Some people put this down to what they might call talent, or luck, however a fundamental principle of NLP is that we can all achieve similar results by modelling their thought strategies and physiology. NLP techniques offer a range of different techniques and tools that can help you model successful people and achieve excellent results more quickly.

How can it benefit you?

NLP also offers principles and techniques that can help you take control of your emotional state.

I am sure you know people who some days are happy and other days are in less than resourceful states and don’t appear to have any control over this. Perhaps you have experienced those feelings, maybe during an exam or presentation.

These events may have left you dreading such experiences to such an extent that you became emotionally flooded by your own anxiety.

When you arrived for the exam and took a look at the exam sheet your mind went blank. All that you knew you had learnt was not easy to recall leaving you with an exam paper that did not reflect your capability and knowledge.

NLP offers a range of different techniques to give you back strategies to keep your emotions and internal thoughts in check.  These techniques support and build your belief that you are capable and you can remain calmer to achieve the results you want.

Your internal judge becomes your best friend and supporter and focuses on methods to gain success.

By using Neuro Linguistic Programming techniques you can utilise your mind to achieve excellent results in every area of your life. NLP incorporates numerous ways of creating a new mindset in tune with your values, beliefs & desired outcomes.  When you are free of your own judgement it is much easier to be your authentic self.

NLP can be applied to so many areas including: releasing stress and anxiety, gaining confidence, better communication skills, releasing addictions and phobias and improving public speaking/performance.

What is it?

In NLP – Neurology and how information we take in through our senses is processed internally.  Linguistic is the language we use and how we communicate experiences to ourselves and others. Programming is the internal strategies we run to achieve specific results.

NLP is about mastering your brain and behaviour to achieve the outcomes that you want in life. For example, one well known strategy is the NLP spelling strategy. Some people believe that they just cannot spell, however when they learn the spelling strategy that old belief totally disappears. The spelling strategy was developed by modelling the internal thought processes and behaviour of excellent spellers. The spelling strategy is easy to learn.

Origins of NLP

Neuro Linguistic Programming was developed in the 1970s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder who modelled some of the most successful communicators. The main people were Milton Erikson, Virginia Satir and Fritz Perls, who were all master communicators in the area of personal transformation. What they discovered from their research into these inspiring people led to the beginnings of NLP.

Visualisation Exercise

Download this visualisation exercise to get started with consciously practising positive visualisation. It is a powerful tool that can be focused on gaining motivation and purpose. It can also alter your view on issues and support your chosen decisions and direction.

We are likely to use some form of visualisation in conjunction with our memories of our personal historical events. These visualisations link and trigger our emotions. As these are our personal movies of past events we have the power to change them and the impact they have on us.

Unconsciously we make subtle changes each time we run them. By consciously altering these personal movies we change the meaning by adding more positive elements bringing about a change or even neutralising old negative emotional triggers.
